Laryngeal Papilloma

Laryngeal Papillomas are warty lesions in and around the larynx caused by three specific subtypes of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).  They occur in adults and children, can be quite aggressive and can cause symptoms ranging from mild hoarseness to severe airway obstruction.

Treatment ranges from microsurgical removal, through laser vapourisation, to the injection of anti-vital drugs into the papillomas.

Early diagnosis and treatment correlates with best results.

A/Professor Havas has extensive experience in treating laryngeal papillomas in both adults & children. He was among the first to use surgical micro debriders and currently pioneering the use of diode lasers in the treatment of this condition.
